- GENRE: alternative metal, nu-metal
- COUNTRY: India
Imagine this, a heavy metal band but from… India. Now, add to the picture nu-metal with a dash of metalcore, many an Indian folk music element, some pop and tribal vibrations blended with a modern sound. And thus, you get Bloodywood – one of the brighter stars of contemporary metal. When you see them live, you’ll understand that it’s no coincidence that they’re there.
History:
They started out as a duo whose main aim was to “destroy pop songs” and they did just that – they covered radio-friendly hits into metal smashers. Bloodywood’s 2017 debut record, true to this modus operandi, Anti-Pop Vol.1, was warmly received by metal media. A proper debut, however, came five years later with the album Rakshak, which featured original material composed by the New Delhi band and their signature sound, which marries nu-metal with metalcore, pop and Indian folk. The band’s latest release is Nu Delhi from 2025.
