- COUNTRY: USA
Nick Oliveri is a one-of-a-kind artist, as evidenced by his tenures with Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as his leadership of Mondo Generator. The Los Angeles-based band is a principally stoner rock outfit, but they also like to flirt with unruly punk, hard rock and even indie rock. They approach everything with absolute ease – one no money can buy; you must simply be born with it.
History:
Mondo Generator was formed in 1997. Initially, the band was Nick Oliveri’s side project. However, in the second half of the 2000s, when the artist parted ways with Queens of the Stone Age, Mondo Generator became his main priority. The band’s debut album, Cocaine Rodeo, was quite warmly received, but it was only with the follow-up records that they started to gain proper esteem. A Drug Problem That Never Existed and Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails elevated the band to the status of a special phenomenon on the stoner and alternative scene. Despite longer breaks between records, Mondo Generator remains an active band with an unchanging lineup. Their latest album is We Stand Against You.
