Acid King will hypnotise you on demand. They won’t use black magic, they won’t put any spell on you – they’ll simply invite you to the infinite world of slow, plodding, all-crushing riffs. It’s stoner/doom in a nutshell, heavy like life and psychedelic, and when need be, always effective.
History:
Acid King came to be in 1993 thanks to… a classified ad! It was posted by the band’s leader, Lori S., who was looking for a bass player and a drummer. The four strings fell into the hands of Peter Lucas (who stayed with the band for literally three years). Together, they composed the band’s first pieces, but they were still looking for a drummer. Fortunately, they managed to track him down as well, and under equally unlikely circumstances, for it was at a party, after Lori screamed out, “Does anyone know any drummers?!”. Our hero turned out to be Joey Osbourne, who remained a member of Acid King until 2017. With the line-up complete, the band recorded a demo, an EP and their debut album Zoroaster in 1995. Four years later, they released into the world Busse Woods, a breakthrough record in stoner circles, and began to tour intensely all over the world to promote it. Their subsequent records, released with longer intervals, III, Middle of Nowehere, Center of Everywhere, and Beyond Vision, were also well-received. Acid King continue to do their thing, not fixing what’s not broken.
