- GENRE: doom metal
- COUNTRY: UK
The Brits have always been savvy with metal – particularly in its iteration that’s dark as autumn evenings and gloomy like the English sky every other day. Arð is perfect proof of just that. The solo project of Mark Deeks is rooted in a trudging doom metal with strong atmospheric elements and melodies at the forefront. The project will knock you down with the heaviness of their riffs and move you with its emotive content.
History:
Arð was founded in 2019, when the Winterfylleth keyboard player, Mark Deeks, decided to have a project entirely of his own. Therefore, the musician plays on all of the instruments (except for the drums) – from the piano to the guitar. He’s always aimed to produce a doom metal wherein the atmosphere is just as important as the heaviness of ruthless riffs. And he got it right on his first try, starting strong with his first single, “Burden Foretold,” released in 2021. The artist went on to release two full-length albums as Arð – Take Up My Bones and Untouched by Fire.
