Bokassa can satisfy drastically different audiences. For those who prefer a briskier tempo, there are their hardcore bursts, and those who love a slower jam will be pleased with their top-tier stoner metal. In every configuration, they’re a dream come true.
History:
The Norwegian Bokassa came into being in 2013. The band’s name isn’t accidental – it comes from the last name of an African dictator, Jean-Bédel Bokassa. The name was the band’s way of underscoring that they pay attention to the cruelty of the world in their lyrics. After releasing two EPs and a few singles, the band brought into the world their debut album, Divide & Conquer, in 2017. Their blend of stoner and hardcore made a name for them in Norway, but the best was yet to come. Even before the premiere of their sophomore album, Crimson Riders, in 2019, Lars Ulrich sang their praises, which led to the band being invited to join Metallica on tour. Ever since, their career’s been gaining momentum, with no stopping on the horizon. In Norway, they’ve been winning an award after an award and they’ve been touring more and more around the globe, capturing the hearts of the masses.
