Septicflesh

Septicflesh underwent quite the creative transformation over the years. They started with death/doom with an element of Greek black metal, but quickly they were hungry for more and for something a little thicker. Currently, they are the leading force of symphonic death metal, ruling as they do over the genre. At Mystic Festival, you’ll see why they’re so acclaimed.

History:

Septicflesh was formed in 1990 and, after releasing one EP and three demos, debuted with the album Mystic Places of Dawn four years later. The record married elements of death/doom metal with Hellenic black metal. A new artistic direction came with their third full-length record, Ophidian Wheel, on which the band melded the rabid mad death metal with gothic rock. Nevertheless, it was only in 2003 with the release of Sumerian Demons that the band fully solidified their style into the symphonic death metal with a dash of black metal of today. The band disbanded after the album’s premiere, but came back in 2007. Since then, they have released five more full-length records, consolidating their status as the kings of symphonic death metal.
