History:
Formed in 1997, Severe Torture is one of the most consistent and ironclad names in the history of Dutch death metal. After the well-received demo Baptized, the band debuted with the album Feasting on Blood, released through Hammerheart Records. The extremely brutal and impressively technical death metal of the band was lauded and the praise continued with their sophomore record, Misanthropic Carnage. With the subsequent record, Fall of the Despised, Severe Torture moved to the legendary Earache Records, and then switched labels again with the release of Slaughtered, signing with Season of Mist. Torn from the Jaws of Death remains the most recent LP of the Dutch.
