Vader

When it comes to Vader, everything has already been said. They’re one of the most important bands in the history of Polish metal – and it was them who introduced the extreme of the Vistual riverside to the world. During Mystic Festival, they’ll be playing theirs off of Litany. And there will be no mercy.

History:

Vader formed in 1983 in Olsztyn as a heavy metal band. Not long after, thrash entered the mix and then so did death metal. You can trace both on their first demo, Live in Decay, as well as the sophomore one released in 1990, the cult classic Morbid Reich, which ended up being a huge success. It sold over ten thousand copies (a world record) and secured Vader a contract with then-formidable Earache Records. In 1992, the guys from Olsztyn released their debut album, The Ultimate Incantation, and started touring the world intensely. They were even featured on MTV with the music video for “Dark Age.” In 1995, they attacked the world with De Profundis, one of the very best death metal albums of all time, and in 1997, they added the equally great Black to the Blind to their discography. The year 2000 brought with it Litany, widely considered to be a classic of the genre. The early 2000s, however, brought their share of troubles for the band. Thei long-time drummer, Docent, was struggling with health problems and drug addiction, and he exited the stage in the year of the release of The Beast (already recorded with Daray on the drums). He passed away a year later, in 2005. After the well-received Impressions in Blood came more line-up problems as well as the mixed reception of their next record, Necropolis. But with Welcome to the Morbid Reich, released in 2011, Vader truly and permanently got their groove, hopefully never to lose it again. Since then, they’ve released only great records and toured like no one else can. Their latest full-lenght album is Solitude in Madness from 2020.
