Winterfylleth

Winterfylleth play black metal in the most classic sense – they are drawn to nature and a melancholic ambience, yet they are not at all bereft of anger. Their stories of ancient England in different shades always work. They’ll work on Mystic Festival too.

History:

Manchester, 2006 – at the instigation of Simon Lucas and Chris Naughton, Winterfylleth is born. The name is an Old English word for October. In 2007, the band released into the world their first material, i.e. the self-released EP Rising of the Winter Full Moon. The music, brimming as it was with a murky, sombre atmosphere, caught the attention of the cult label of the extreme scene, Profound Lore. With the label, the band debuted with the full-length album The Ghost of Heritage in 2008. Almost immediately after, the band signed with Candlelight Records (with which they’re yet to part) and attacked with a sophomore record, The Mercian Sphere. The atmospheric yet angry black metal of the Brits began to reach further shores, and across the following six record, the band have remained true to the winning formula. Winterfylleth’s latest record is the 2024 The Imperious Horizon
