- GENRE: death metal, grindcore
- COUNTRY: Poland
Is it more death metal or grindcore? Unimportant, really – when it comes to Hostia, the important bit is that it’s supposed to hurt and that it does. The Warsaw band functions under the presumption that there are to be knockdowns, mockery of religious hypocrisy, and some groove. And they marry it all so seemingly. As your eyes and ears will come to find out.
History:
Hostia was formed in 2017 in Warsaw. From the beginning, the band’s objective has been clear and precise – death metal and grind craft were to be combined with groove-ridden sections. All that wrapped in an anti-Christian, iconoclastic veneer. In a word: dreadful. The band debuted with a self-titled album in 2020 and released their sophomore record, Carnivore Carnival, two years later. The follow-up record, the 2022 Nailed, piqued a wider interest, which led to their being invited to join the Czech Obscene Extreme Festival. Hostia’s latest record is the 2025 Razorblade Psalm.
