Bølzer

Their riffs strike like thunder. Their music – in spite of its extreme underpinning – is, first and foremost, a mighty, stirring call, infused with epic energy. Bølzer are one of the most important contemporary death/black metal bands. One-of-a-kind, with aesthetics and compositions that make them stand out on the scene. They’ll strike you down; you’ve been forewarned.

History:

Bølzer is the brainchild of two invariably bound with it people – the drummer, Fabian Wyrsch, and the guitarist and vocalist, Okoi Thierry Jones. According to the musicians, the band’s name means “a powerful force or blow or strike that has no regard for the consequences or the repercussions.” The duo started their career in 2008, but debuted only four years later with the demo Roman Acupuncture. It was worth the wait, for even at this initial stage, their mix of black metal with death metal was epic and entirely apart from both subgenres’ scenes. Not long after came two EPs, Aura and Soma, which only further proved that there was no other band like Bølzer. In 2016, the Swiss released their first full-length album, Hero, the sound of which was even more epic and powerful, to a polarising reception by fans. The band will return to Polish shores for the first time since their 2018 concert in Gdańsk.
