Marilyn Manson

At the turn of the century, he drove many god-fearing Americans to despair and captured the imagination of their offspring. Marilyn Manson is a controversial figure, but first and foremost, he is a terrific songwriter. Industrial, glam rock, gothic, metal – he has found his way around each of these worlds with ease. Live, his eccentricity makes him a complete knockout. You can hardly look away.

History:

The crazy story of Marilyn Manson began in 1989 with Brian Warner (so, Marilyn Manson himself) and Scott Putesky, aka Daisy Berkowitz. In the beginning, the band was known as Marlin Manson & the Spooky Kids, and they released a series of demos under that name. After shortening it to its current form, the band’s career started getting off the ground. The 1994 album Portrait of an American Family was already quite a success on the alternative scene, but with the breakthrough Antichrist Superstar, Marilyn Manson became a global phenomenon. Their leader’s garish appearance, their controversial lyrics and aesthetics, and, most importantly, their music secured the band’s standing as one of the most interesting and most polarising American artists of the time. Their subsequent records, such as Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), only added to the already substantial fame and regard of the band and of Marilyn Manson as an artist both consistent and always surprising. Manson’s latest release with the band is the two-parter One Assassination Under God. The second instalment came out in 2026.
