Neptunian Maximalism

Nothingโ€™s obvious with Neptunian Maximalism. You can hardly call what they play songs, as they sound more like a musical journey into hell itself. They weld droning metal with the most avantgarde of jazz, interweaving disquieting stylings into the sea of noise. The sheer power of this idiosyncratic artistic endeavour will take your breath away.ย ย

History:

The story of Neptunian Maximalism begins in 2018 in Brussels, where it was founded by the multi-instrumentalist Guillaume Cazalet and the saxophonist Jean-Jacques Duerinckx. The concept behind the project was clear from the beginning โ€“ they aimed to distill a cohesive whole from the mixture of drone metal, psychedelic rock and free jazz, interwoven with stories about the times when the Earth was ruled by elephants. Their debut album, released within a year of the bandโ€™s formation, was really good, but the conversation around Neptunian Maximalism started properly two years later, after the release of their sophomore record, ร‰ons. The Belgians became the men of the moment in the metal and alternative underground welcoming to genre-neutral phenomena. Theyโ€™ll come to Mystic Festival bearing the material of their latest record, Le sacre du soleil invaincu.ย
