Lorna Shore, Watain, Converge and Green Lung are four bands that you know quite well by now. All different yet equally masterful in their respective genres. As you will get to see during Mystic Festival 2027, in Gdańsk Letnica.
Lorna Shore
“War Machine” is the title of one of the tracks off I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me, the fifth album by the New Jersey four-piece released in 2025. It is also the most apt description of what Lorna Shore has become – a ruthless, unflinching machine of total destruction, annihilating all that stands in its wake. The Americans raised deathcore to new heights, imbuing the genre’s characteristic brutality and intensity with an epic grandeur. We won’t even mention the vocal parts by Will Ramos as the hellish nightmare found therein has already piqued the interest of a scientist or two.
Watain
Since we’re talking hell already, Watain are coming to bring hell on earth to the stage one last time. It is one of those bands that truly brought black metal into the 21st century. Next year, exactly 30 years after the band’s formation, this journey will come to an end, the Swedes will release their final album and Watain will bow out. As the vocalist Erik Danielsson states himself, they “look forward to set out on a last round of shows before the end, and to remind people of the powers this music can actually possess when it’s not held back by the laws and sentiments of the modern world. Watain is a remnant of a dark past that now exists only as myth and memory, too primal and perhaps too real for this day and age.”
Converge
After almost four decades on stage, and a quarter of a century since the release of their breakthrough, genre-defining album Jane Doe, Converge aren’t a band that really has to prove anyone anything. And yet, they did prove, twice over – with Love Is Not Enough in February and Hum of Hurt in June – that there is no one else like them when it comes to music which sounds like a head-on collision of metal, noise rock and hardcore. There’s not only a method in this madness, but also a heartfelt, humane message, just as uncompromising as the band’s sound.
Green Lung
Green Lung’s fourth album, Necropolitan, released in September 2026, invites the listeners to meander through the cemeteries of London, the band’s hometown. Through the morbid yet fascinating history of ancient necropolises, told by ghosts and inscribed in books that should be forbidden. It’s also a time travel of sorts, as the music that the band plays, today heralded as stoner/doom metal, sounds just like the heavy metal of decades past when this music truly caused a fright. Rightfully so.
Mystic Festival 2027 will take place in Gdańsk, Letnica on June 10-12. See you there!
