Mystic Gallery invites you to the exhibition curated by Jakub Demiańczuk, where you’ll discover just how much Polish comic books owe to metal—and why metal needs comics.
Comic books and metal music are two of a kind. They both rely on simple formats that yield unlimited opportunities for artistic development, have space both for musty underground and for best-selling stars, and finally, both metal and comics still embody juvenile rebellion and imagination. These two worlds sometimes converge. Metalheads read comics, graphic artists design cover art, and metal appears in comics both as a theme and a source of inspiration.
The exhibition titled Portal zwyrodniałej otchłni (a direct quote from Bartek Mińkiewicz’s comic book series Pan Wiedźma, meaning “the portal of a wretched void” in Polish) showcases how metal has been approached by Polish graphic artists as well as others, and while reading the comics, you’ll get a chance to replenish your strength before the next concert.
