Drab Majesty

Drab Majesty will lead Mystic festivalgoers to the magical land of the 80s synth-pop with a steady hand. Though they possess the genre-typical sweetness, they enrich it with darwave gloom and sprinkle in some noise and grind. It’s a thing of beauty and complexity.

History:

Drab Majesty was formed in 2011 in Los Angeles, initially conceived as Clinco’s solo project, for the purposes of which he took on the androgynous persona of Deb Demure. Taking inspiration from bands such as Sun Kil Moon or Felt, he began to create a universe of his own with each song he wrote, the effects of which were presented on the 2012 EP Unarian Dances. The material met with acclaim and three years later, Clinco signed with Dais Records. Through the label, he then released his debut album, Careless, in 2015. A year later, Drab Majesty became a duo, with Alex Nicolaou (as Mona D) joining the line-up. The Demonstration, their first album recorded as a duo, was a smashing success, as was the follow-up, Modern Mirror, released two years later. The band’s latest release is the EP An Object in Motion from 2023.
