They will take you on a journey outside of this world without using any words. Monkey3 specialise in traversing the galaxy in the stoner and space rock fashion. Their instrumental songs are first and foremost amalgamations of everything. In addition to the aforementioned elements, you’ll find there psychedelic influences as well as progressive ones and even a nod or two to post-rock.
History:
Monkey3 were formed in 2001 in Lausanne. The Swiss started out as a band mainly focused on instrumental jam sessions. They introduced themselves to the world properly with an EP Monkey III and then in 2004, released their self-titled debut album. Their creative approach found appreciation amongst audiences beyond their native country, so they didn’t stop there. In 2006, they struck again with a sophomore album, 39 Laps. After its release, their popularity grew tremendously, which culminated in the band signing a contract with the prestigious Napalm Records that they still release with today. The band’s latest record is Welcome to the Machine from 2024.
