Thaw have an exceptional approach to the extreme. They can stomp you into the ground with just a few notes. They make you bite your nails down to the quick from anxiety without making much noise. They’re a special kind of band which switches back and forth between black metal, noise and ambient.
History:
Thaw is a band with over fifteen years of history. They first formed in 2010 in Sosnowiec, subversing the assumption that black metal should be stylistically homogenous from the very beginning. For this band, the atmosphere of unease, trance and restraint have always been more important. And they’ve kept their faith on the demos, splits and full-lenght albums ever since their 2013 self-titled debut album. In the meantime, both the press and the fans of the more ambitious extreme have sung their praises. Last year, the Sosnowiec band came back to the land of the living from a seven-year-long recording break. Their latest album is Fading Backwards.
