Witching

A common ground across borders? In the case of Witching, such statements are well-founded. A young and prospering band from Philadelphia makes the kind of extreme sound that cuts deep. It’s the effect that counts, not the tools used. This is why the Americans employ the bitterness of black metal, concrete blocks of sludge heaviness and good old-fashioned doom to create an emotionally demanding force of a sound. Catharsis will surely be within your reach.

History:

Witching has existed since 2017, but the band members are still very young and full of energy, reining in nothing. The band was mainly formed to transmit that what’s the darkest in all of us.

Because of that the five-piece band never designated any particular genre they’d wish to emulate, but rather assumed that they should just play whatever sounds right to them, as long as it fits the mood. Thanks to this method, the band has been commended for their intriguing and smooth blend of sludge, black metal, doom and more, first presented on their debut self-titled EP from 2018.

Witching’s debut album, the 2020 “Vernal”, introduced the band to a much broader audience, organically creating an ever-growing vibe. Their following and most recent record, the 2023 “Incendium”, only enhances this energy. Despite their so far short tenure, the band is known for their particularly lively live performances.
