Mystic Festival 2024: VHS Hell will hurt you. And you’ll be back for more

Would you rather die from the claws of a demon, taken down by a ninja or torn apart by pancakes from outer space? VHS Hell is back to Mystic Festival to spice up your afternoon and poison your life.

For a while now VHS Hell have been organizing screenings of amazing budget movies from genres back in a day you would normally find at the lowest shelves of video cassette rentals. These were movies so awfully bad that they became delightfully good.

Don’t Panic, dir. Rubén Galindo Jr., 1987, 90 min.

For his 17th birthday, Michael receives an Ouija board from his best friend Tony. The natural consequence of such a gift is, of course, a spiritualistic séance – after all, what could go wrong? It turns out a lot. Michael unknowingly unlocks the evil forces of the board and summons a demon known as Virgil. One does not have to wait long for the consequences, soon there is a wave of brutal killings, and the main suspect seems to be the ill-fated birthday boy. Is Michael the killer? Will he be able to prove his innocence and defeat the demon?

Revenge of the Ninja, dir. Sam Firstenberg, 1983, 90 min.

After the death of his wife, who was murdered by unknown perpetrators, Cho and his son Kane move to United States. A man opens a store selling traditional Japanese dolls. Their peace of mind is shattered by a shocking discovery – Cho’s dolls are being used to smuggle heroin. The warrior must once again put on his mask to bring justice and wreak havoc! Remember: only a ninja warrior can stop another ninja warrior! Starring the legendary Shô Kosugi.

Without Warning, dir. Greydon Clark, 1980, 89 min.

Sandy and Greg are two teenagers who go camping with friends in the sleepy California countryside. Despite the warnings of a grumpy gas station owner, they plan to hike to a lake known to be shrouded in evil. They will have to face a horror from outer space there! And the fight will be fierce, because flying, armed with suckers and sharp fangs… pancakes are no joke!

The program of VHS Hell chill zone will be completed with old-school commercials, trailers and music videos from the 1990s.
