Cage Fight

“Rage from London” is how Cage Fight have summed up their own work and this succinct slogan quite aptly encapsulates the band’s essence. The British band is not trying to reinvent the wheel or look for something that doesn’t want to be found. It’s supposed to be a temple shot and it is. Their metalized hardcore drips in frustration and paired with their catchy melodies reminiscent of crossover thrash, it’s quite the spirited affair. Without a doubt, one of the more interesting hardcore debuts of recent years.

History:

When Cage Fight began playing together in 2021, they didn’t think much would come out of it, especially since they weren’t really planning on it. The idea was for the band to be an escapist project for the Tesseract’s James Monteith and Jon Reid. However, when both men presented their friends with drafts of the songs inspired by metal mavens from Terror to Slayer, they all agreed that other people should get the chance to hear them too.

And so, the band stepped out of the shadows. In the same year, the band was joined by the charismatic vocalist, Rachel Aspe, and the drummer, Nick Plews, and the world got to hear their first single, “Hope Castrated.” Not long after, in 2022, the band released their debut self-titled album, and the array of positive responses made it clear that the band wasn’t just playing around anymore and that are, in fact, the real deal. Starting in 2024, the band is properly hitting the road and Mystic Festival will be one of their many stops.
